"Thanks to all of you for the tremendous support you have given to the GSO throughout last season’s 80th Anniversary Season.  Even though it is extremely difficult to follow such an amazingly successful season, I am delighted to tell you that I had wonderful help in selecting programs that will be exciting, fun, entertaining, meaningful and heartwarming.  We have these three wonderful concerts for you:"      Michael Gelfand, Conductor
 
 

On Saturday, May 8th, 2010, at 8PM at the Passavant Center on the Thiel College Campus, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra will present a delightfully varied program:
 
DANCE!   DANSE!!   DANZE!!!  AND MORE!!!!
 
The GSO will accompany and feature several marvelous local dance groups (New Vernon Grange Square Dancers, Hermitage's YMCA "Y's Guys and Gals”, Traveling Shoes Clogging Show Team, Walnut Lodge Dance, Dancin' Feet Studio) performing tap, jazz, ballet, clog, line, square, and swing dancing. The GSO performs music by Benny Goodman, Offenbach, Duke Ellington, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and music from Chicago, Music Man, Grease, The Nutcracker Ballet, Orpheus in the Underworld, and the Orange Blossom Special to accompany the dancers. The symphony orchestra will also feature West Coast singing sensation, DEVORAH, in music written specially for her, combining Cantorial, Folk and Rock music. Also performing with the orchestra is Lydia Byard, 2008 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion.
